Internships provide individuals with exciting and rewarding experiences and hand-on engagement while expanding one’s knowledge and skills. ALEC partners with Agricultural and Natural Resources Policy (ANRP) and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) to offer a variety of internship opportunities. For more information about these specific internships, visit their web sites listed below.
In this semester-long program, students complete a policy-focused internship in Washington, D.C.; Austin; or Rome while earning academic credit.
HLSR has been providing internships to our students for more than 35 years. During the show’s three-week run each March, students work in the marketing and events and attractions departments, the executive office, and other areas.
Poland Young Farmer Exchange
This five-week internship for course credit allows students to learn about and observe leadership practices in Poland, as evidenced in agricultural systems, politics and government, education, religion, and the arts. As part of a work-study program, students live with a farm family and experience the Polish farm life. They also visit historical sites throughout the country and witness how fundamental elements of culture influence behavior and affect family, education, social settings, and work.
Occasionally, other organizations or offices may notify ALEC faculty and staff about internship opportunities. We encourage students to check with the department periodically for additional information.
