Professional Summary
Gary Wingenbach, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications and a senior scientist in the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture at Texas A&M University. Wingenbach has more than 30 years of experience in agricultural education and human resource development. Wingenbach specializes in creating agricultural education, research, and outreach experiences in international settings. He teaches courses in social science research, international agriculture education and development, undergraduate research, and life-long learning strategies in formal and non-formal settings. His research focuses on postsecondary education, intercultural awareness, technology transfer, and international agricultural development. Wingenbach has mentored more than 100 undergraduate and graduate students and 30 junior faculty members who produced 400+ refereed publications. He successfully managed more than $3.8M in federally funded projects in agricultural education, research, and capacity-building in postsecondary institutions. Wingenbach’s service includes numerous roles with universities, professional societies, and government, such as managing multiple NIFA and AFRI competitive grant panel reviews and as a bilingual educator for the USAID, US-EPA, USDA-FAS, and the U.S. Department of Labor.
