Professional Summary
Emily Catalán is a second year graduate student and assistant in the Texas A&M Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications. Her current research is focused on the theory of Narrative Transportation and the experience of engagement via storytelling among youth. This work provides insight of how stories with different features can increase engagement and narrative transportation among youth participating in an activity, such as an educational study abroad. Additionally, this works address the potential impact of promoting positive behavior and attitudes of youth via storytelling. Catalán also has peer-reviewed work from her time at Texas State and continues to write journal articles that are related to her interest. Her current interest and focus are in Youth Development, Program Evaluation, Grant Writing, Animal Science, and International Projects.
