Professional Summary
Rachel Brauner is a Ph.D. Student in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications and an Extension Program Specialist for Military Programs at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Her focus is to enhance educational programming for providers, service members, military families, and Department of Defense civilians in the areas of caregiving, mental health, and alcohol and substance use. Ms. Brauner works closely with military professionals across the nation in assessing caregiver needs and providing the necessary education and resources to alleviate the stress that comes with caring for wounded service members and those caring for individuals with special needs. Her programs entail OneOp, formerly the Military Families Learning Network, Powerful Tools for Caregivers, and Mental Health First Aid. Ms. Brauner recently worked with prevention education programs within the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), Texas. Her Extension team was responsible for providing non-clinical alcohol and drug prevention and education training and suicide prevention programs to service members, commanders, civilian employees, and military families. Over her Extension career, Ms. Brauner has successfully obtained over $7.6 million in grants and contracts, either as a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI.
