Professional Summary

Patrick Jamar, Ph.D. is a Visiting Lecturer in the Texas A&M Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications. Dr. Jamar brings 9 years of experience as a scholar and researcher to Texas A&M, researching environmental and risk communication as it intersects with new media and technology. His research attempts to understand human beings’ attitudes and behavioral intentions towards topics like environmental conservation habits, sustainable consumption habits, and risk avoidance using psychological and social theory. Prior to A&M, he was involved in projects like the Portugal International Collaboratory for Emerging Technologies CoLab Grant working on the iSea Project at UT-Austin, examining deep sea ecosystems using immersive, VR technology as well as many projects funded by UT-Austin’s Special Research Grant and Green Fund. He was also involved in research at Michigan State University dealing with a children’s science discovery TV program on a PBS-affiliated TV station. Lastly, he has worked for nonprofit organizations like the MasterCard Scholarship Foundation.
