Professional Summary

Kelsi Opat, Ph.D. is an instructional assistant professor in the Texas A&M University Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications. Her research and teaching interests lie in the fields of crisis and science communications. Her crisis communication work explores the most effective ways to communicate with targeted audiences during times of crisis, and her science communication work focuses on guiding scientists and practitioners alike on the most strategic ways to share technical information with various audiences. Opat has published research in the Journal of Applied Communications, the Journal of Radio and Audio Media, and Journalism Practice. Opat’s primary duty is to teach courses in agricultural communications. She has taught a variety of courses and looks forward to bringing her teaching expertise to A&M.
