B. Keith Cole, MS, MA, is a PhD student in Texas A&M University’s Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications. His PhD research is identifying critical skills international development non-governmental organizations (NGOS) are seeking in new hires with subsequent curriculum to be developed. He has over 20 years of experience working in the international development (food security and agriculture, refugee services, and education). Currently he serves as Associate Director for Program Development at Texas A&M’s Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture where he is responsible for new business development. Either as the lead budget writer or overseeing the cost proposal team, he has helped obtain almost $70M for international agricultural development projects. Donors have included the U.S. Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Defense, and U.S. Department of Education as well as foreign governments and international organizations such as the UN World Food Programme, UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and the Asian Development Bank as well as foundations and private sector partners. He serves as Texas A&M AgriLife’s Liaison with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization for various funded initiatives in campus. He is a frequent speaker to classes on a variety of topics in international development, proposal writing, and project management.
