ALEC 380 students receive experience of a lifetime

Fourteen students enrolled in ALEC 380 traveled nearly 4,000 miles in October representing Texas A&M University. The class traveled across 12 states and visited agricultural operations that represented various sectors in agricultural leadership, education and communications on the way to and from the 90th Annual National FFA Convention. Along the way, students toured and met with representatives from Buck Cattle Company, Geisert Farms, Anheuser-Busch, John Deere, Fair Oaks Farms, Grand Ole Opry, CNN and Growing Leaders. AggieFest FFA LDE Invitationals

The Future Agricultural Science Teachers will be hosting an invitational Leadership Development Event for all Texas FFA Chapters. Pre-registration fees are $20 per team for team events and $10 per individual for individual events (Creed, Quiz, Job Interview) if entries are made by Tuesday, Oct. 10. Late entries will be taken only as room/time permits at a fee of $30 per team and $15 per individual. State rules, including official dress, will be followed. Agriculture Science Students Take On One Last Adventure as Student-Teachers Across Texas

  By: Caitlin Powers The agricultural science degree, formerly known as agriculture education, was the founding degree for the ALEC department.  While the degree plan has changed throughout the years, one element of the degree plan has remained; student-teaching. “It is a tradition that has always been part of the program,” Associate Professor Julie Harlin, Ph.D., who oversees the student-teachers, said. CFFA to host Harvest Ball
