ALEC alum and former Texas A&M professor receives high honor
Joe D. Townsend was one of four alumni who received the 2017 Outstanding Alumni Award from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences on Nov. 10 in College Station, Texas. The award recognizes graduates of the college for outstanding leadership and significant contributions in agriculture, natural resources, life sciences or any related areas. Townsend earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M in 1967 as an agricultural education major with an emphasis in teaching, student development and leadership. Nine ALEC Graduates Among 2017 Aggie 100 Honorees
At the 13th Annual Aggie 100 Gala held on Friday, Oct. 27, nine former students of the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications (ALEC) were recognized for being a part of the 100 fastest growing Aggie-owned or Aggie-led businesses worldwide. ALEC honorees included Tyler Merrick, Dave Lilley, Timothy White, Bradley Corbin, Kevin Bernhard, Trey Bader, Justin Peter, Nolan Butterfras and Penny Mariott Miller. Cummings Recognized for Excellence in Extension

Rayfield recognized for Outstanding Achievement
By: Caitlin Powers ALEC faculty traveled to the American Association for Agricultural Education’s annual national conference in Columbus, OH in May. ALEC Earns Accolades at AIAEE Meeting
By: Mollie Lastovica Twelve representatives of the Texas A&M University Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications attended the Association for International Agricultural and Extension Education meeting in Fort Worth, Texas, May 19-23. ALEC Students Receive Senior Merit Awards
Four graduating seniors in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication were recipients of the 2013 Senior Merit Award. Awarded for over 50 years, the Senior Merit Award is the highest recognition that is bestowed upon students by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
