Dr. Peng Lu has joined the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications as a postdoctoral research associate.
Lu received her bachelor’s degree in Horticulture from Hebei Agricultural University in China, and master’s degree at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Her doctorate in Agricultural Education and Communications was earned at Texas Tech University.
Lu focuses her research on human cognitive behavior including critical thinking and metacognitions. Her research has developed and tested a Critical Thinking Attitude Instrument to assess the critical thinking attitudes of students studying agriculture. Lu also validated the Chinese version of University of Florida Critical Thinking Inventory (UFCTI). Her work has measured the cognitive behavior of humans, such as cognitive allocation and emotional arousal, by using eye-tracking and psychophysiology technologies.
Since joining Texas A&M University, one of Lu’s primary goals is to use novel measurement technology (eye tracking, dial testing, psychophysiology) to explore how individuals process or respond to messages in agricultural sciences.
