Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communications graduate student Noor Mobeen was recognized in May as a recipient of the Division of Student Affairs’ Graduate Student Award of Distinction.
Mobeen works as a tour coordinator and in Residence Life. His duties have included managing 30,000 prospective students for Residence Life, working with those and current students and giving VIP campus tours. Given to one graduate student per year within the Division of Student Affairs, this award recognizes his commitment to excellence in the workplace.
“This award means the world to me,” Mobeen said. “As an international student, making it through my undergraduate with a perfect GPA, going on and getting my Master’s and now to be working on finishing my Ph.D., is a big accomplishment. Now, I will be going home with this too…it is like winning an Oscar Award. This recognition was beyond my imagination. I have just given my best ability and learned to accept different communities and give respect to different people and my hard work has paid off.”
Mobeen appreciates the ALEC faculty and staff who have helped him make it this far.
“This department has given me a lot,” Mobeen said. “Coming from the area between Pakistan and Agfhanistan and to be able to start and finish from my undergraduate through my Ph.D. in the department is really neat. They have accepted me as a family member from the beginning. My words cannot express the thanks I have for the people in this department, especially Dr. Larke who has championed me and helped me back up when I have fallen down. Words cannot express my appreciation.”
