TAMU Collegiate FFA
A tradition that began in 1931 at Texas A&M is returning to campus this spring. A tradition whose focus is to promote agriculture through social and service activities as well as career development. The tradition being re-established is Collegiate FFA. In October a group of ALEC students attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Barry Boyd was recently honored by the University Professorships for Undergraduate Teaching Excellence with the Thaman Professorship. Agricultural Communications and Journalism Program
The Agricultural Communications and Journalism at Texas A&M University has been ranked the most popular program of its type by Campus Explorer. Campus Explorer is an online database of more than 8,000 colleges and universities, providing resources and tools to select an institute of higher education. Natosha Rogers: ALEC Student Runs to Victory
By Debbie Prince Seven years ago, a petite brunette soccer player from Littleton, Colo., who said she was too small for soccer, took her dad’s advice to quit [soccer] and began running. She joined cross country and did so well that she “just kept running,” she said. That former soccer player turned runner is twenty-year-old Natosha Rogers ’13, a junior in the Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications department. Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Internship
Students from all areas of the University are eligible to participate as interns at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ each year. This year’s show runs February 28 – March 18, 2012. Deb Dunsford, AGCJ faculty, works with HLSR each year to oversee the day to day Aggie intern activities and assignments. Other Texas A&M faculty and staff help with the show by serving as judges for livestock and agricultural events.
