Principles, theories, concepts, techniques and applications for managing human resources in food and agricultural organizations and in local communities; attracting, staffing, training, developing and compensating human talent. Not intended for majors in business.

ALED 344. Leading Volunteers. [Credit 3-0]
Students in this course will: Define conceptual terms, develop a model for volunteer leadership, establish criteria for quality volunteer experiences, and facilitate learning and knowledge acquisition.

ALED 422. Cultural Pluralism in Agriculture. [Credit 3]
Selected Topics on the diversity of human resources in agriculture; emphasis on working in a multicultural society and developing a sensitivity toward different cultures; explores the interrelationships between the contributions of diverse individuals in the state, nation and global success of agriculture.

AGCJ 105. Introduction to Agricultural Communication. [Credit 2]
Introduction to mass communication, its history, role in society, and especially its role in agriculture. The course will provide an understanding how the importance of mass communication and various communication methods in modern society and will lay the groundwork for an understanding of agricultural news and information as it relates to various audiences.

News gathering, writing, editing and ethics for all types of media used in agricultural communication. Limited to AGJR majors and others with approval of department head. Prerequisite: C or better in AGJR 105.

AGCJ 304. Editing for Agricultural Audiences. [Credit 3]
Principles and practices of editing for an agricultural and technical audience including improving and tightening copy, writing headlines, titles and subheads, photo editing and captions, graphics and layout.
Prerequisite: AGCJ 203
AGCJ 305. Agricultural Publishing. [Credit 3]
Agricultural producers still use agricultural publications as their number one source of information. Audience identification, publication content, management and design. Prerequisite: AGCJ 105.
AGCJ 306. Agricultural Public Relations. [Credit 3]
The unique relationship between agricultural producers and their suppliers makes public relations a critical part of agricultural communication. Public relations objectives, strategies, tactics, evaluation, writing and execution.
Prerequisite: AGCJ 105
AGCJ 307. Electronic Media Production in Agricultural Communication. [Credit 3] Principles, concepts, and practices of agricultural industry uses for electronic media production (radio, television, computer) in advertising, informational videos, computer-mediated instruction, and distance education.

Agricultural public relations campaign analysis including objectives, strategies and tactics.
