Namibia Technological Change and Agricultural Communications

Agricultural communications and technology transfer are necessary tools in addressing agricultural problems in both Namibia and Texas. Coursework includes competency building in change theory, critical thinking, and leading change effectively (personal, organizational, societal), and an emphasis in the principles and techniques of communicating scientific information relevant to Namibian agriculture. Students will partner with University of Namibia students and/or local Namibian agri-businesses to complete program assignments. Cultural field trips include the Etosha National Park, the Cheetah Conservation Fund and other rich resources of Namibia.


AGCJ 404 Communicating Agricultural Information to the Public: Provide students with the basic principles of and techniques in communicating scientific information relevant to agriculture, agribusiness, natural resources, and life sciences to the general public. Communication processes include audience identification, writing, editing, and production of agricultural science-based materials for popular and refereed publications.

ALED 440 Principles of Technological Change: Foster competence in leading change; including awareness of change models, change theory, communicating effectively, critical thinking, and how to lead change effectively (personal, organizational, societal).

ALEC 604 Writing for Professional Publication: Provide students with the scientific and technical writings skills necessary to compose research manuscripts, conference papers, and journal articles.
