Prospective Freshman Applicants
(Current High School/GED Students)
Freshman applicants are students who have applied or will apply to join Texas A&M University and have no previous college credit or whose only college credit was received prior to high school graduation (dual-credit/AP/IB).
Want to Apply?
Unfortunately, Freshmen applicants are not allowed to apply directly to University Studies-Leadership since you must first complete 30 credit hours of coursework at Texas A&M. This gives you an opportunity to learn more about other majors at Texas A&M and make sure this is the best fit for you and your future career. This also lets you establish your TAMU GPA.
How to Apply
We recommend freshman applicants apply directly to General Studies and then apply for a change of major to University Studies-Leadership once you have completed the requirements. You can inform your General Studies Advisor about your desire to change majors to University Studies-Leadership and they will be able to assist you with the proper coursework to take your freshman year.
During your freshman year, you are encouraged to meet with the University Studies-Leadership Advisor to discuss the major and the detailed application process.
Applications for freshman students are handled by the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M University. You must apply at http://admissions.tamu.edu/freshmen/. Any questions about application deadlines, application requirements, and if your application materials have been received need to be directed to the Office of Admissions.
Please refer to the Freshman Applicant handout below for more information about how to be a University Studies-Leadership major.
